Really old mr dougal website
Disclaimer. This is really old in internet terms.
This was the mr dougal website from 2002. I’d never make anything like this nowadays, although I thought i’d post this up for old times. It’s all flash (shudder) and it (originally) launched in a popup window (shudder again).
In many ways this is where my programming career started, as many hours where spent writing ActionScript drive the animations and transitions throughout the site.
Can view it, in all it’s six year old glory here.
I found the source for the site whilst clearing out some old zip drives at home, yes zip drives.

St Kilda road animation
An animation of St Kilda road, the heart of Melbourne’s corporate district. Comminsioned by Dinosaurus media solutions, to celebrate moving into their new offices on St Kilda road.
Much like the real St Kilda road, the animation has cars that sometimes run red light, trams going up and down the road all the time, and naturally everyone is wearing a suit.

Flash Text Editor
A flash text editor that ties in to a custom content management system for a website that Smart Solutions built. The editor needed to support adjusting the size and colour of the text, as well as inserting hyperlinks.
The editor pulls in some predefined styles via a CSS style sheet, so that users could easily style text to fit with the rest of their site. Also predefined links where supplied to the users, (feed from an xml file) so that they could easily link to other parts of the site. Or if need be, to another site. Not an bad editor that is only 20kb in size!

Flash upload component
A mini application I built in Flash to upload massive amounts of files into Smart Solutions digital asset management system. The component uploads multiple files at once, thus removing the bottleneck of getting the assets into the system.
The flash component queries the server to see if there are duplicate files on the server prior to uploading, and also queries the status of cataloguing the files once they’re on the server.
